Sunday, March 24, 2013 - Palm Sunday - the Road to Jerusalem, Matt. 21:1-11~ No parade or celebration has ever really adequately remembered the person or event of Jesus Christ. They tried their best when Jesus rode into Jerusalem over 2,000 years ago. But before long the worshipers were scattered and hiding because the road to Jerusalem wasn't what they thought it would be. How do you respond when your happiest moments come crashing down around you? How do you focus and get through it all? Come and See. Special Baptism service too!

Sunday, March 17, 2013, Jammin' with James #5, Just Do It Now, James 4: 13-14 ~ Tim McGraw sings the song "Live Like You Were Dying" and it is an enlightening look at how short life really is. The bridge lyrics state "Like tomorrow was a gift and you've got eternity to think about what you do with it, what could you do with it?" Actually we will have all eternity to evaluate how we traded our days. Was it for temporary pursuits and pleasures or the things that cause heaven to celebrate? Come and listen!

Sunday, March 10, Jammin' with James, Victorious Prayer, James 4:1-10~ If there’s anything that I need to do—that you need to do, that we need to do, that everyone needs to do— it is to learn how to pray. The man who can pray can do anything, for prayer can do anything that God can do, and God can do anything. And, our desperate need in these days is to link our lives with the omnipotent God who has called upon us and told us to pray. And, Jesus said, “ask, and ye shall receive” (John 16:24). And, James says, “you have not, because you ask not.” How can you get more traction in your prayer life? Come and hear!

Sunday, February 10, 2013, Poet Robert Browning wrote, “Love is the energy of life.” The Bible says where God is, love is, for God is love. All of these 15 colors (descriptions) and hues of the spectrum of love we find in this passage are verbs in the original Greek. What this means is that love is not simply a feeling, or an abstraction or passive; love is active. Love is only love when it acts (1 John 3:18). So we should do all the good we can, to all the people we can, for as long as we can. Come and see!

God takes love and passes it through Paul’s inspired intellect and it comes out broken down into its elements [14 descriptions listed in pairs]. In these few words we have what one might call The Spectrum of The God's Gift of Love. Will you observe what its elements are? Will you grasp their common names and practice their virtues that make up the supreme gift of love? Come and see!

Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, James places a great value upon wisdom. James doesn't say who is a rich man among you, or who is an educated man among you, or who is a popular among you, or who is a busy or ambitious man among you. But, James, looking for a leader in the church says, “Who is a wise man among you.” And, James like all of the writers of the Bible, puts a great, great, premium upon wisdom. Wisdom is greater, than monetary power. Would you like to know how to attain a reliable source of wisdom?? Come and see.

Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, Music Ministry, Children & Preschool Ministry, Youth Ministry, Collegiate Ministry and Preaching/Discipling Ministry. How are these components going to be used strategically by the Lord and in harmony to build the work that He plans to establish in the Family @ First? Come and see!

Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, Jammin’ with James #2 Funeral for a Dead Faith James 2:14-17~ The Christian life is just summed up in Grace but the devil doesn't want you to believe that. Grace vs or+ Works - Some people think that they can explain it when they say being saved is like trying to cross a stream in a rowboat. If you pull on one oar, which is works, you will just go around in a circle this way. If you pull on the other oar, which is grace, you will just go in a circle this way. But if you take both oars, you will just cross the stream. It is a wonderful illustration but it has a fatal flaw. To find out....come and see!

Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, Jammin' with James #1, How to Pass the Tests of Life - James 1:1-4~ I heard of a young man who had taken his test at college and he’d made a zero. He went in to see the professor, and he argued with the professor. He said, “Professor, I don’t think I deserved this zero.” And the professor said, “Neither do I, son, but it was the lowest grade I had.” Now, maybe you are failing just that miserably in the test of life. But, God does have some tests, some examinations, and we’re going to have to learn how to make a passing grade. And, I hope some of us today will learn how to make an A plus-plus.
